Joseph B. Callaghan, Inc. is often consulted to determine a structure's
integrity through failure analysis. This involves pre- or post-damage assessment
with the ultimate purpose of ensuring safety to building occupants.
Following the events of September 11, Joseph B. Callaghan, Inc. was
engaged to investigate the structure of 90 West Street, an office building in
close proximity to the World Trade Center Towers. This treasured building,
designed by architect Cass Gilbert in 1907, suffered tremendous fire damage yet
remained structurally salvageable.
Beyond providing failure analysis
post-disaster, the firm also develops preventative measures to curb potential
structural damage. Under the direction of the Federal Emergency Management
Administration, Joseph B. Callaghan, Inc. has conducted seismic review studies
and proposed mitigation recommendations on numerous structures for the General
Services Administration. |
